'Jacobs Coat' was designed in 1959 by Alexander Girard.
Eamesbikini chair pads are handmade in the U.S.A. with contract-quality textiles. Each bikini consists of a top and bottom pad that ties in the middle (hence, The Bikini Pad). 'Jacobs Coat' eamesbikinis are made from MAHARAM's authentic line of 20th Century Textiles (79% cotton, 21% polyester) with TeflonŽ finish. Dry-clean only.
The Designer: Alexander Girard (1907-1993) was born in New York City but was educated as an architect in Europe. His career breakthrough came in 1949, when he designed the Detroit
Institute of Art's "For Modern Living," a significant exhibition promoting postwar modernism. In 1952, Girard became the
head of Herman Miller furniture company's textile division, designing more than 300 textiles and wallpapers.
